Intercostal Neuralgia
Nerve Pain Between the Ribs
Neuropathic pain along an intercostal nerve: sharp, burning, band-like pain following a dermatome around the chest wall. Causes: post-herpetic neuralgia (after shingles), post-thoracotomy, rib fracture, costovertebral dysfunction, idiopathic. Must rule out serious thoracic pathology.
