Costovertebral / Costotransverse Joint Dysfunction
Rib Joint Pain in the Back
Pain arising from the costovertebral (rib head to vertebral body) or costotransverse (rib tubercle to transverse process) joints. Very common cause of thoracic pain. Often presents as sharp, localised pain with deep inspiration. Responds well to manual therapy. May mimic cardiac or pleuritic pain.
