Spondylolysis: stress fracture of the pars interarticularis (isthmic defect). Spondylolisthesis: forward slippage of one vertebra on another. Classification: isthmic (pars defect: most common at L5/S1), degenerative (facet/disc degeneration: most common at L4/5), traumatic, pathological, dysplastic. Spondylolysis prevalence 5-7% in general population; most are asymptomatic.
