Plica Syndrome
Irritated Knee Fold
Symptomatic medial plica: a remnant embryological fold of the knee joint synovium that becomes inflamed, thickened, and painful. Present in 50-70% of knees (normal anatomical variant). Only 10% of plica become symptomatic. Causes medial knee pain, snapping, and pseudolocking: mimics meniscal tear.
