Degenerative joint disease of the knee: the most common joint affected by OA. Prevalence: 10% of men and 13% of women >60. Medial compartment most commonly affected (60%). Risk factors: age, obesity (strongest modifiable), previous injury (ACL, meniscectomy), female sex, occupational loading. Exercise and weight loss are first-line: superior to any pill, injection, or brace.
