Degenerative joint disease of the hip: one of the most common causes of disability worldwide. Prevalence increases with age: 5% in >45 years, 10% in >65. Risk factors: age, obesity, female sex, previous hip injury, FAI, developmental dysplasia, occupational loading. Primary (idiopathic) or secondary (post-traumatic, post-AVN, post-DDH, post-FAI/labral damage).
