Compression of the spinal cord in the cervical spine due to degenerative changes (disc bulging, osteophyte formation, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, OPLL). Most common cause of spinal cord dysfunction in >55 years. Insidious onset, progressive course. SURGICAL CONDITION: conservative management does not reverse cord damage.
