Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
Nerve Trapped at Inner Ankle
Compression of the posterior tibial nerve in the tarsal tunnel (behind and below the medial malleolus). Analogous to carpal tunnel in the wrist. Causes burning/tingling in the sole of the foot. Less common than CTS. Causes include: flat foot (stretches the nerve), ganglion cyst, varicosities, post-fracture.
