Perineural fibrosis and degeneration of the common digital nerve, most commonly in the 3rd web space (between 3rd and 4th metatarsal heads). NOT a true neuroma: degenerative, not neoplastic. Female predominance 4:1. Associated with tight/narrow footwear and high heels.
