Achilles Rupture
Snapped Achilles Tendon
Complete rupture of the Achilles tendon: peak age 30-50, male predominance (6:1). Often in recreational athletes ("weekend warriors"). Mechanism: explosive push-off, sudden dorsiflexion. Felt as a "kick to the back of the leg." Thompson's test is the key clinical test. Operative vs non-operative management: both are valid options with proper rehabilitation protocols.
